Artists sought

The Johnston County Arts Council is seeking artists for the first Johnston County Arts and Food Festival on April 30. Artists must live in Johnston County or be affiliated with a Johnston arts group. Jazz in Clayton

Jazz guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, March 26, at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton. Pizzarelli has recorded more than 20 albums, including 2008's "With a Song in My Heart," a tribute to composer Richard Rogers, and 2007's "Generations," a collaboration with his father, Bucky Pizzarelli. Tickets are $25, plus a service fee. All seats are general admission. 'Alice in Wonderland'

Essay, art contest

The Cleveland Library invites students in Johnston and Wake counties to enter its "Freedom to Read" essay and art contest. This year's contest theme is "What is your favorite book?" Essays should be one or two pages. Pictures or designs should be on an 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper. For an entry form and contest rules, visit 40needs.org and click on "Cleveland Library." The entry deadline is April 5.

Patsy Cline show

Raleigh Ensemble Players brings the popular musical production "Always...Patsy Cline" to The Clayton Center at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 27, and 4 p.m. Sunday, March 28.

"Always...Patsy Cline" by Ted Swindley is based on his 1988 country-imbued musical jukebox that chronicles the true story behind Patsy and her friendship with a groupie from Houston named Louise Seger. Seger, who ultimately befriends the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, continues a correspondence with Cline until her untimely death in a plane crash in 1963. The show's title is inspired by Cline's letters to Seger, which were consistently signed "Love ALWAYS... Patsy Cline."

Tickets for the performances are $20 plus service fees. All seats are general admission. The Clayton Center is located at 111 E. 2nd St. For tickets, contact the box office at 919-553-1737, Ext. 2, between 10 a.m. and noon and 1 and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ronnie Milsap

Ronnie Milsap will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 20, in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at Johnston Community College, 245 College Road, Smithfield. Tickets are $27.50 in advance and $30 at the door.

Art on display

Paintings by Tom Krasowski of Goldsboro are on display through March 30 at Eye of the Eagle Art, 131 E. 1st St., Clayton. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. till 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. till 5 p.m. Saturdays. Krasowski works primarily in oils, and his paintings reflect his interest in cubism, both modern and abstract.

Irish song, dance

Tony Kenny's Celtic Nights, an evening of Irish music, comedy, song and dance, will take the stage at Johnston Community College's Paul A. Johnston Auditorium at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15. The auditorium is located at 245 College Road, Smithfield.

Golfing for arts

A golf tournament to benefit the Johnston County Arts Council will tee off at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 26, at the Johnston County Country Club.
