This Week in Johnston History

A study found that 24 percent of white voters in Johnston County were illiterate. A number of Johnstonians traveled to Raleigh to hear former presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan. And John Barnes' "mammoth store" in Clayton was planning to add groceries and give away lamps.
