UNC to honor Donald Williams' jersey
Former Garner High standout Donald Williams will have his No. 21 jersey honored by the University of North Carolina during its March 2 game against Miami. Williams was the MVP of the Final Four during the Heels' run to the NCAA championship in 1993.
Garner falls in wrestling home finale
East Wake nipped Garner in a Greater Neuse River 4-A Conference match last week, 36-34. The Trojans picked up pinfall wins from Damian Harrell, Vincent Mollo and Tyler Maher. Timothy Jones, Anthony Chiles, Marchus Carter and Steven Lombana also won for Garner on senior night.
Johnston Hall of Fame nominations
The Johnston County Athletic Hall of Fame is currently accepting nominations for their inductees into the Class of 2010. Application forms may be picked up in the office of any of the Johnston County high schools. Applications are due back to the schools by Feb. 19.
The fourth annual Johnston County Hall of Fame banquet will be held on April 24 at North Johnston High School.
Youth Night at Clayton
Clayton High School will hold youth night at its basketball games against East Wake on Friday night. All middle school or parks and recreation basketball players who wear their jersey will be admitted free to the games, which begin at 6 p.m.
