Leadership graduates

Jeff Prince and Bryce Verhaege, network field engineers for U.S. Cellular in Smithfield, have graduated from U.S. Cellular's Leadership Institute.

Prince and Verhaege are among 13 graduates of the eight-month program, which teaches leadership skills in communication, making effective decisions and developing others. The graduates will continue their training and development by attending quarterly forums and mentoring programs.

"U.S. Cellular's Leadership Institute is an excellent example of how the company invests in the ongoing development of its associates," said Marcel Bekers, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Eastern North Carolina. "This training will enable Jeff and Bryce to help associates realize how they can make a difference for the company and in their own professional growth."

Prince has been with U.S. Cellular for more than 12 years, and Verhaege has been with the company for more than four years. In their role as network field engineers, they are responsible for the performance of U.S. Cellular's wireless system in Eastern North Carolina, retention of customers and customer service.

Doubletree aids Harbor

On behalf of its clients this holiday season, Doubletree Personnel made a financial gift to Harbor Inc., which provides aid, including shelter, to victims of rape and domestic violence in Johnston County.

"We typically give gift items to our clients during the holiday season, but this year, we gave in honor of them," said Detria Blount, area manager for Doubletree. "Our clients are so valuable to us, and we also realize that Harbor needs the funds to continue to provide services and programs. So, we let our clients know that a financial contribution would be donated in their honor to Harbor."

Keri Christensen, Harbor's executive director, said such contributions were of great benefit to the women and children served by Harbor. "Special financial gifts such as the one given by Doubletree Personnel help to continue funding our shelter and programs," she said. "We are always grateful for contributions, and Doubletree Personnel lifted our spirits this year with its generosity."
