Bonnie, 77, a native of Harnett County, passed Tuesday Dec. 08, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Bonnie was born to Johnny Franklin Matthews and Edna Dean Matthews on June 9, 1932.

Family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Friday, December 11, 2009 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. The celebration of Bonnie's life will be held in the Chapel at 3:00pm. An entombment service will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

Bonnie is survived by her 5 children and their spouses; sons Barry and wife Susie, Robert and wife Carrie, Chris and wife Beth; daughters, Debby Kerr, Donna and husband Jeff Lawrence; her 16 grandchildren, Tiffany Strouse Whichard and husband, John, David Connors and wife, Leigh, Emily Connors, Courtney Kerr, Jonathan, Brian, Casey Kerr, Matt, Kaitlin, Joey, Alea Lawrence, Sam, Anna Lawrence, Scott, Laura, and Jack; her six great grandchildren, Baird, Ainsley, and Austin Whichard, Mason and John Connors, Camden James Kerr. Her sister, Johnie Matthews Young and Brother in law, Wallace Young; and in-laws, Eunice and RK Kronstadt, Mabel Jackson, Shirley Baird, Virginia Baird; and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her adored husband of 56 years, Paul Austin Baird, and her parents.

Bonnie was a member of North Cary Baptist Church and the Funtastix Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She loved gardening, visiting with close friends, supporting church activities, and attending Carolina Hurricanes games. Most of all she cherished time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
