The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a citizens’ informational workshop on the proposed widening of Interstate 40 in Wake and Johnston counties.
The informal meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the meeting room at the Comfort Inn, 126 Cleveland Crossing Drive in the Cleveland community. The meeting will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 7. Citizens may drop in any time and speak individually with DOT officials and view project maps and plans. No formal presentation will be held.
The DOT proposes to widen I-40 between Exit 301 at the Raleigh Beltline interchange to Exit 312 (N.C 42). The goal is to help reduce congestion along I-40.
Right-of-way acquisition for this project is scheduled to begin in 2014, and construction is currently unfunded.
